Inventory & orders

A daily watch for low stock and stuck orders

Each day SI checks for items running low and orders or jobs that have stalled, and sends a short list with suggested fixes before customers notice.

The problem

Problems are found when a customer complains: an item sold that was not in stock, a shipment stuck for a week, a job waiting on a part nobody ordered.

What SI does

SI checks stock levels against minimums, compares open customer orders or jobs with the stock and parts they need, and looks for orders with no movement (no shipping scan, no status change) beyond a set time. It sends a short daily list with what is wrong and a suggested next step, such as contacting the customer, transferring stock or chasing a carrier.

Examples

The same job looks different in different businesses. These are illustrations, not client results.

  • Auto parts distributor

Two customer orders depend on a part with zero stock and no open purchase order; the list suggests ordering and warning the customers.

  • Furniture retailer

A delivery has shown no carrier update for six days; a draft message to the customer and a carrier inquiry are prepared.

  • Appliance repair company

Three scheduled repairs need a part not yet received, so the dispatcher can reschedule before the technician drives out.

What it takes to set up

Read access to stock and order or job data and carrier tracking if relevant. Setup is often several days.

What a human still checks

  • A person decides on each fix and approves any customer message.
  • Stock changes in the system are made by staff.
  • Thresholds are tuned to avoid false alarms.

Try it yourself

Paste this into your SI tool of choice and swap the [bracketed] parts for your own details. It asks SI to stop and show you before it does anything.
